Vote Kevin Berry for Trustee

About me

On August 6th, I filed my papers to run for Trustee in Wards 7, 8, 9 & 10 for the Simcoe County District School Board. (SCDSB)
For those of you who don’t know me, I thoughtI would give you a bit of background.
I moved to Simcoe County from Toronto 23 years ago with my daughter. Not long after arriving, I started getting involved in my new community.
For the last 15 years or so I have been the Autism Ontario Representative on the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) of the SCDSB,serving as Chairman of the Committee for a decade and I am currently the the Vice Chair.
Outside of that, for more than 15 years I have been acting as a volunteer advocate and mediator for individual students with special education needs and their families as they navigate the school system.
I served for five years as the only volunteer representative on the committee of the Special Needs Strategy for Simcoe County.
I currently coach with two Special Olympics Alpine Racing Teams in Barrie and Collingwood, and I will be going as an Out Of District Coach with the GTA team to the Provincial Games next winter. In the summer, I ”caddy” for Special Olympics Golf.
In the past, I have also been involved as a Beaver and Cub leader as well a member of the Beeton Lions Club when I was living there.
Now I hope to take the experience gained in both the community and the education system and apply it in role of Trustee.

I hope I can count on your support, and if you wish to help out with a sign on your lawn, delivering flyers, or a donation, please reach out.

What People Are Saying:

“Kevin Berry has been a huge asset, in my son being able to achieve his certificate in high school. Kevin was able to walk us through, and help us understand what our son was going through. He was able to assist myself and the school, at getting our son set up for success.

He is a man that believes that equality, honesty, and that human rights are very important. He leads by example always, and comes up with some amazing solutions to some incredible problems. Kevin is very professional, and patient. We are very lucky that we found him, and are very thankful for everything that he has done for us.”

Katrena Boyd Noble & her son Dawson

Kevin Berry has been an extraordinary presence in our lives, especially our son's life. Kevin is as selfless as they come. Kevin is someone who puts the needs of children, youth, young adults, and those in need above all else. Without Kevin, our son certainly would not have experienced the many successes he has had since Kevin, thankfully, came into our lives.
Our son has become a thriving eighteen-year-old attending his second year of college and working a part-time job. Our son has grown his confidence in himself, his experience within the community and in social settings; this would certainly not have happened without Kevin's kindness and assistance in navigating and sourcing resources within the education system and community for our son. With Kevin's knowledge, skill set, compassion, and drive, Kevin will undoubtedly be an invaluable asset as a School Board Trustee.
Sincerely,
Annette Robb

*** Maddox wanted to say a few things, too***
Kevin Berry has done a lot for me. He helped me navigate the school system when I was struggling and in need. He has helped me through some rough times, and I would not be where I am now without Kevin's assistance. Thank you, Kevin.
